Our field of college access is attracting significant attention from researchers. The five organizations below all provide current and meaningful contributions to the literature. We recommend that you use these links to find the latest and the best in the field.

  • Pell Institute Research

    Pell Institute Logo

    The Pell Institute for the Study of Opportunity in Higher Education conducts and disseminates research and policy analysis to encourage policymakers, educators, and the public to improve educational opportunities and outcomes for low-income, first-generation, and disabled college students.

    Also of interest is their clearinghouse on educational opportunity which focuses on TRIO programs.

  • Pathways to College Network

    Pathways to College Logo

    Pathways promotes the use of research-based policies and practices, the development of new research that is both rigorous and actionable, and the alignment of efforts across middle school, high school, and higher education in order to promote college access and success for underserved students.

    Research is categorized for the practitioner or the policymaker on the homepage.

  • National College Access Network (NCAN)

    NCAN Logo

    NCAN's mission is to build, strengthen, and empower communities committed to college access and success so that all students, especially those underrepresented in postsecondary education, can achieve their educational dreams.

    AzCAN is a member of this important national organization. Information and research can be found on their website.

  • Lumina Foundation

    Lumina Foundation Logo

    Lumina Foundation's "Big Goal" is to increase the percentage of Americans with high-quality, two- or four-year college degrees and credentials from 39 percent to 60 percent by 2025, an increase of 23 million graduates above current rates.

    This link gains access to numerous 40- to 60-page monographs, which explore a particular topic affecting access to higher education.

  • Casey Family

    Casey Family Program Logo

    Casey Family Programs is the nation’s largest operating foundation focused entirely on foster care and improving the child welfare system. The Casey Family Programs work to provide and improve foster care in the United States.

    They have decades of front-line experience in foster care and are committed to helping states, counties and tribes implement effective child welfare practices.

Orphan Foundation of America (OFA) provides information and applications for their scholarships for students from foster care. Go to www.orphan.org, click Scholarships. Also, click on Casey Family Scholars Scholarships.

Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation Provides a list of state organizations and working with youth in and from foster care.

Destination Graduation Website that helps postsecondary professionals to meet the needs of students who have been in the foster care system. It also allows to become a part of a network with people who support alumni of care students on their campus
